Quantum Leaps Lodge offers a unique and wonderful winter getaway for your family or group.  Avoid the crowds and long lift lineups at the Resorts (and the expense) and enjoy your Canadian Rockies winter vacation, snowshoeing or cross country skiing right from Quantum Leaps property on the Blaeberry River.  There are snowshoes here you can use for free! You have access to countless km's of untracked snow on crown land. Go tobogganing down the hill from the Lodge or build a snowman too! Have a wonderful and memorable time together with your family in a intimate and private setting. There are many adventures to be had here in the Blaeberry Valley.  And then if you wish to head to the Kicking Mountain Resort for some downhill skiing or snowboarding it is only a 30 minute drive away.

After a fun day outside playing in our "Golden" winter......

  • Sit in our unique, large, outside hottub or cedar sauna to relax and
    rejuvenate for the next day.
  • Or soak in some radiant heat relaxing by the fireplace.
  • Or come on over to the Craft Room and spend some creative time making a Dream Catcher or other Art projects (by donation).  All instruction and materials are provided.

Winter in the Blaeberry Valley    

Golden, BC also has beautiful groomed and tracked Cross- Country ski trails called the Dawn Mountain Nordic Ski Trails, located up at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.  Set for both classical and skating, there are 20km of beautiful gladed trails.  From beginners to advanced skiers there is something for everyone.  There are also track set trails at the Golden Golf Course.  Another beautiful way to enjoy an afternoon out.

Golden, BC is also your destination for heli- skiing and cat skiing.  Spend a few days with us and then continue on to other opportunities up in the mountains at Chatter Creek Lodge, Mistaya Lodge, or Amiskwi Lodge.  Rogers Pass at Glacier National Park is only a one hour drive from us and is a world class destination for Backcountry touring.  With an average of 12ft of snow, I've personally enjoyed some of my best untracked powder days there!

A 1 1/2hr drive is now BC's newest resort; Mount Revelstoke.  Renowned for the incredible amount of snow that falls every year, this Resort is a Skiier and Snowboarders paradise.

Mistaya Lodge- located on the west slopes of the Canadian Rockies, near Yoho National Park, the frequent up slope snowfalls and the dry powder of the Rockies provide us with excellent telemark and alpine ski touring.

Amiskwi Lodge- the lodge is situated above Amiskwi pass, just outside of the west boundary of Yoho National Park. At an elevation of 6900 ft (2104 m), Amiskwi is blessed with a winter-time average of 2.5 m snowpack.

Purcell Helicopter skiing- Purcell Helicopter Skiing Ltd. has been offering its guests the ultimate deep powder heli-skiing experience since 1973. Their aim is to provide less demanding skiing at a more relaxed pace. They are a local company based in Golden, BC. 

RK Heli- skiing- come and enjoy your heli-ski/boarding winter vacation in the heart of the Purcell Mountains where the powder snow is deep, the air is fresh and the experience exhilarating. Enjoy mountains over 11,000 ft. and spectacular views. Up to 6000 vertical feet of varied terrain includes glacier snowfields and gladed tree runs.

                                 Cross Country and Backcountry Ski Trails
Dawn Mountain Nordic Ski Trails-
these trail have been developed by the BC forest Service and the Golden Outdoor Recreation Association's Nordic Club. The local ski club maintains the day use shelter and track sets approximately 18 kilometers of trail for classic and about 5 km for skating technique.

Rogers Pass at Glacier National Park-Visitors to the park will find ski touring terrain including glades, alpine bowls and icefields where descents of more than 1500 metres are possible. All ski destinations in the park require knowledge of travel in avalanche terrain. Avalanche Bulletins for all areas in BC and Alberta-  depending on where you wish to Ski Tour, always check in with the avalanche forecasts for current conditions.
